Baloch Students Action Committee Karachi University (BSAC_KU) conducted a workshop on Student Journalism and Article Writing with an introduction to NODARBAR website.
At the beginning of the workshop ,Sameer Mazar gave a brief introduction of the official website of Baloch Students Action Committee named ‘NODARBAR’ where he discussed about the usage and content of the website.
After the introduction of the website Gulab Baloch, an M.phil Scholar elaborated his thoughts on ‘Citizen Journalism and Student Activism’. He addressed that citizen journalism functions outside the mainstream media institutions as a response to the shortcomings in the professional journalistic field.
He further told the students that social Media has made citizen journalism more accessible to the people as before social media, magazines were the only source.
He then advised the students to take part in student activism as it is very beneficial for the growth of a society. He also told the students to break the circle of fear and utilize the freedom of expression, as like those students who made successfull movements like civil rights movement in the USA and Tiananmen Square movement in China.
He also talked about student harassment where he shared his ideas that how harrassment is getting viral and what steps should be taken out to counter such heinous acts.
At last, Gulab Baloch moved toward Article Writing and taught the students about the steps and procedure of article writing.
The workshop concluded with a question-answer session, where students asked questions to the speaker and cleared their doubts.
