Baloch Students Action Committee DG Zone Conducted a Lectures Session on the topic entitled, ” Talking About Culture : A historical overview and Approaching Baloch Culture”.
The Lecture was delivered by Ali Birahimani who did his M.st in general Linguistics and Comparative Philology from University of Oxford London.
Addressing the Session he said there are many books which Suggests and scholars who advance a good number of definitions of Culture. But in order to understand the definition and scope of culture it is important to study the historical development of the concepts and understand the variability of culture as well as to be mindful to the fact that our understanding of it also shifty,. Best to study culture in its geology. Since the nominal decolonization of culture has been indispensable concept not merely from a view point of human evolution, but the vary category of it.
He further added that culture retains such immense importance that we can not remain without this category. Culture is bigger than ourselves because it encompasses our real Selves. Culture no more lies in the traits of balochi, but it is rather tied to debating the question of weather such and such are in fact the traits.
Approaching the Baloch culture he further said that the Baloch’s understandings of “Culture” and the Definition employed in academic circles : dod-o-rubedagh or siistan.
Talking about reforming the culture he said the sacramental value of tradion does not lie in tagging behind it but steering it at the front : how does our present look into th past while we are looking into the past we must always have in mind the future that we aspire to. Culture is also about contesting the space and our activities in it: what must be included into and excluded from it. The most immediate task is to preserve our language. But there is also a dire need to adopt progressive thoughts :need to endures miracles of modern science, need to endures revolutionary ideas in arts.. Music, poetry, literature.
